Kotoko-Medeama headline Ghana Premier League matchweek 9 fixtures

The Ghana Premier League returns this weekend with nine exciting fixtures as clubs battle for crucial points in Matchweek 9 of the 2026/27 season.

The headline encounter is Sunday's clash between Asante Kotoko and defending champions Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Kotoko are seeking a response after their 1-1 draw with FC AshantiGold 04, while Medeama arrive in Kumasi following a 1-0 victory over Aduana FC.

The two sides have enjoyed competitive encounters in recent seasons, including a 2-2 draw in Kumasi last season.

Hearts of Oak travel to face Debibi United, hoping to build on their Matchday 8 victory. The newcomers will draw confidence from their earlier 2-2 home draw against Kotoko while the Phobians are chasing a fourth consecutive win.

Aduana FC host Berekum Chelsea in a Bono derby. Aduana will seek an immediate response after losing to Medeama, while Chelsea will fancy their chances of upsetting the hosts despite winning only one of their last five visits to Dormaa.

At Samreboi, FC Samartex 1996 welcome Bibiani Gold Stars. Gold Stars have been inconsistent this season and will be hoping to win back-to-back games for the first time this season after securing a 2-1 win over Heart of Lions last weekend.

Heart of Lions host Bechem United in Kpando, with both sides looking to gain ground. Their previous five meetings have seen both sides win two games each with one draw in 2024.

Basake Holy Stars welcome Dreams FC at the AAK II Ampain Arena, hoping to record a fifth straight home win while the Still Believe boys are chasing their first victory this camppaign.

Young Apostles face Karela United in Wenchi. Both teams lost their matchdweek 8 game at home and a win will help boost their morale.

Swedru All Blacks host FC AshantiGold 04, with the visitors hoping to carry momentum from their draw against Kotoko. All Blacks will be keen to respond positively on home soil, while the Miners travel with a new technical team after the dismissal of head coach Karim Zito and his assistants.

The weekend begins on Saturday with Vision FC hosting Port City FC in Tema. Vision will seek to build on their 3-1 victory over Dreams FC, while Port City arrive encouraged by their 2-1 win against Karela United in Tamale.
