The highly anticipated encounter, which had generated significant discussion ahead of kick-off, lived up to its billing, with both sides battling for supremacy in a keenly contested fixture.

Medeama went into the game determined to bounce back from their first defeat of the season, suffered against FC Samartex last weekend. The defending champions responded in front of their home supporters, with Babil making the decisive impact after coming on as a substitute.

His late strike proved to be the difference between the two sides, handing the Mauve and Yellow a crucial three points in their quest to defend their league title.

Aduana FC, meanwhile, were hoping to build on their 1-0 victory over FC Ashgold in Dormaa last weekend and extend their winning run. However, the Fire Club could not find a way past Medeama, leaving Tarkwa without a point.

The victory sees Medeama SC reclaim the summit of the Ghana Premier League standings with 17 points after eight matches, level on points with Accra Hearts of Oak.

The win also provides a timely response from Medeama following their setback against Samartex, as they maintain their push for another successful campaign.

For Aduana FC, attention now turns to their next fixture as they seek to recover from the narrow defeat and return to winning ways.
