The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has adopted President Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.

The governor of Anambra, Prof. Charles Soludo, and the national leader, APGA, made this known on Friday in Awka during the inauguration of APGA’s national campaign for the 2027 general elections.

“APGA has no presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections and will, therefore, adopt President Tinubu as its preferred candidate.

“Today, we adopt the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as our candidate,” he said.

Soludo said that Tinubu had demonstrated love and concern for the Igbo people, particularly the people of Anambra.

He also recalled that Tinubu had appointed several Anambra indigenes to strategic positions in Lagos state during his tenure as governor.

‘’APGA had adopted the presidential candidate of the ruling party in previous elections; therefore, the party’s decision to support Tinubu in the 2027 general elections is a continuation of that political arrangement,” he said.

The governor insisted that Tinubu was the only presidential candidate of the party come 2027 general elections.

“We don’t have a presidential candidate; Tinubu is our candidate,” he said.

He further recalled that the state recorded about 5,000 votes for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

‘’Yet, the president has continued to address some of the challenges confronting the state and the Southeast region.

“We gave him only about 5,000 votes, and yet he is doing wonderful works in the state,” he said.

Soludo urged people of the state to support Tinubu in the 2027 election.

According to him, doing so will give the state and the Southeast a stronger opportunity to engage with the Federal Government and negotiate for their development.

The governor declared his intention to deliver 50 percent of the state’s votes to Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC, in the 2027 general elections.

“We need to vote for him in order to sit with the government at the center and negotiate for the development of the Southeast and Anambra.

“We are targeting 50 percent for the president,” he said. (NAN)
